Re: Earth Hour

They should have Earth hour at 2am. Most people would have no problems having their lights off then.

Re: Earth Hour

Who is going to turn their lights off at a pivotal time on a Saturday night?

Enlighten us perhaps as to WHY it's a waste of time ?

I gotta say i'm disappointed in the lack of productive conversation in this thread. Asking for an hour of your time out how many thousands of hours during a year, and you all can't spare it ?!

Using a disaster of a leaf game is pretty weak if you ask me lol...

It's about being power smart, saving some money and trying to cut down on your already probably high consumption.

Comments like the one above are a bigger waste of time then the actual act of paticipating.

Since when is saving money and saving dwindling resources a waste of time ?! It's sending a message to that joke of a government with an even bigger pinhead at the helm in Ottawa that the environment does matter to people and making sure we're not burning through what we have at a records pace.

I expected more from the local Canadian group on this board...I really did. It's a freaking hour people !

Then again, I still have to consider how many of you people actually make the household decisions, cause it ain't coming out of your pockets...you'll just be the ones who cry first later in life when it hits your own pockets.

Re: Earth Hour

I'm sorry I do enough to help the environment in my day to day life, I really don't need to be told to turn the lights out for an hour so I can feel extra special about myself and feel like I'm doing something.

The problem I have with events like this is I think it really creates the allusion of we actually do something and care about the environment. Sure we promote something like this and turn off the lights for an hour and we feel all warm and fuzzy inside but most people are back to not caring the next day. So if people really care about the environment they should be making a few lifestyle changes instead whether it's switching to a more fuel efficient vehicle or finding ways to reduce waist and recycling or whatever.

Re: Earth Hour

For the hour of energy saved turning things of for an hour, it would probably take 10x that much to get things rolling again.

Re: Earth Hour

I turned off lights and computer... and then the TV + VCR on when I realized I then had nothing to do.
