Re: Did TR have fewer redecos/retools than usual?

There are a few rumoured figures that were leaked out on a Japanese site that as shown some retools of Titan Masters.
Carnivac from Wolfwire/Weirdwolf
Crosshairs from Kup
Skar or Blood from Mindwipe since Blood is the Japanese name for Bomb-burst. Bomb-Burst is getting a Prime masters figure I think it is Skar.

This.

And how many times was Kup retooled?
Triggerhappy, Misfire, Slugslinger, Windblade, twintwist and Topspin are all retools of each other.

Triggerhappy, Misfire and Slugslinger, yes, and I believe Windblade shares some parts with Scourge/Highbrow. But Topspin/Twintwist?

The Terrorcons will be retooled into the Pretender Monsters in 2019. They've already leaked Wildfly's head on Cutthroat's body.

I don't know what is going on here. The neo seekers are ofc retools. Windblade shares engineering (I'd have to compare for actual PARTS) with scourge and highbrow.

The jumpstarters are not freaking retools of misfire.

Are we just throwing retool around now when a couple toys even remotely have similar transformations?

I've always understood retool means taking one toy, making minor changes, but still mostly sharing parts. Using a similar engineering scheme but a totally new toy requiring totally new parts up and down... That's not a retool. You made entirely new toolings for the toy.

But yeah I'm finding multiple examples in this thread to be an absolute stretch.

Re: Did TR have fewer redecos/retools than usual?

Anyway, tr had farrrrrr fewer redecoes/retools than combiner wars. I mean, they only did dead end twice instead of 9000.

Even then - is chrome dome a reTOOL? Or a new toy with shared engineering. Cos I think he is entirely new parts.

Re: Did TR have fewer redecos/retools than usual?

There's nothing wrong with repaints or retools. Im from the G1 era. 6 jets all the same. Minus wings for 3 of them. Im ok with it. Really

Re: Did TR have fewer redecos/retools than usual?

The only thing the Jumpstarters have in common with the "Neo Seekers" (digging that term!) is a transformation step involving a hinge at the waist and a 180 degree rotation of the torso section on a panel, and only Triggerhappy does that. That doesn't make them retools of each other.
