Been building up quite the stock pile of online exclusives and they've finally arrived today:

Picked up this TMNT Mikey @ TRU today:

Haul from yesterday (Feb 14th).

-Nintendo New 3DS XL (black) [MISB, from local Best Buy]


So this marks my fourth 3DS. I already have:
- original 3DS [US] (black)
- 3DS XL [US] (black)
- 3DS XL [Japanese] (Silver)
- now New 3DS XL [US] (black)

So pissed; this was originally supposed to be a Friday haul. So early Friday morning, I preorder/reserve the unit at Best Buy to pick up in-store. I get the confirmation e-mail, so I take a few hours off from work to make the extra ~30min detour by public transit to go pick it up. The 30min ended up being more like 45 with the additional 15 minutes being walking/waiting outside for a bus in -35°C temperatures.
Anyhow, I get to Best Buy, tell them of my reservation, they check the back, only to come back to tell me that they screwed up their inventory, and they never received any.
Travel time wasted. Time off taken from work wasted. So pissed.

Is it worth getting over the XL though? Been thinking of upgrading my 3DS for awhile now myself.

My bday is at the end of the week. I really wanted the Lego R2D2 set but it was just retired in the past few weeks, unfortunately my wife and I found this out after the fact so R2 will not be joining my collection anytime soon (after market prices are now double his retail price, blah!).

So instead my wife and i went out and got iPad minis yesterday. So long story short: recent haul: iPad mini! Woot!

If you already have an XL, it's not that much of an upgrade. But the super-stable 3D, and the stronger processing power (most noticeable with Smash Bros' loading) is definitely something nice.

If you're going from a regular 3DS, I'd say you should get the New 3DS XL, and just skip the regular one. If you already have the XL, it comes down to whether or not the super-stable 3D, the better loading times, and the Amiibo support is worth it for you.

Lego Helicarrier! I've been waiting for this set since I first heard rumours back in the fall. I specifically took today off work so I could go get and assemble this beast. Only took about 7 hours to put together but your times may vary.
