I decided to do a little more work on my FOC Shockwave even though there is an awesome one coming out in Beast Hunters. I picked up a Longblast upgrade set for the Megatron and Shockwave blasters but decided to use the head and blaster hand to make him more G1. Before I started this whole project I popped the wings off of Shockwave...they're just held on by little pegs.
Cannon hand: I cut off the barrels of Shockwave's attached cannon hand and then cut off the ball joint on the upgrade blaster hand from the set then glued it on the attachable cannon housing. Hand blaster done.
Head: I will be using the G1 style head that came with the Longblast mech Ideas upgrade set.
I unscrewed the housing for the chest and head. pried it open and popped out the spring loaded neck piece. I popped the head off (its held by a metal pin) and I used the neck/ball joint from ROTF deluxe figure Breakaway ( the cammo jet...the thrust mold...its a perfect fit for the longblast head...you can also use the balljoint from the ROTF deluxe soundwave but it will involve more cutting and trimming, these are the only other ball joints that fit other than the RTS Jazz mold ) and cut it to fit in the remaining neck hole and glued it, wrapped black electrical tape to hide the green peg. reassembled the chest/neck housing. After all that I now now have a fully articulated G1 style Shockwave head for my FOC Shockwave. He can look up, down, left and right...awesome.
To give him some height I took the legs of Universe Cyclonus (the original colour version) and popped them on and now he has more height and closer G1 looking legs.
Right now I'm cutting up some RCA cables to give him his power cable. Next I have to construct some addons to give him his G1 Alt mode.
