Re: DOTM now on Netflix Canada

I saw it and almost watched it, but then I thought about all the damage I might do to my television and figured I should wait.

Re: DOTM now on Netflix Canada

My free netflix trial expired a month ago. Didn't bother renewing. I don't like the selection.

Re: Transformers: Dark of the Moon now on Netflix Canada

Some good new stuff added to Netflix Canada in the past 6-8 weeks, including:

X-Men: First Class
Thor (2011)
Torchwood (UK TV Series set in Dr Who universe)
Lots of Power Rangers series
The short-lived live action Tick series
Inglorious Basterds
Futurama (old series, movies, new seasons)
Family Guy (through to season 8 I think)
and tons of Marvel superhero cartoons (both traditional animation and anime).

Re: Transformers: Dark of the Moon now on Netflix Canada

I used to rag on Netflix Canada quite a bit because it really is a watered down version compared to what the States get, but I've had it for a month now (gave rogers the old boot) and I have to say it's well worth the $8/month.
I've been rewatching the X-files, of which tere's 202 44 minute episodes, among other great shows and movies.

Adding Dark of the moon to the list only sweetens the deal, and $8 a month is killer compared to the $100 we were paying rogers for cable

Wii can't do HD*, unfortunately - you'd need a PS3, Xbox360, or other HDMI enabled device with a Netflix client.

* I mean, technically I'm sure the Wii hardware could handle HD, but the limitation is that the Wii doesn't have HDMI output** and so you're limited to standard definition.

** OK, HD can be sent over component (YPbPr) cables, which do exist for the Wii, BUT Netflix both A) doesn't support HD in the Wii Netflix app and B) legally can't stream HD to non-HDMI compliant devices because otherwise you could burn the movies to DVD/Bluray and that would cause the collapse of modern civilization according to RIAA experts.

Unfortunately the Wii is only capable of 480p output even with component cables (though the picture looks much better with component cables than composite).

Only 1080p is restricted to hdmi, 720p and 1080i transmit fine over component.

Netflix HD is 720p or 1080i at most as no service that I'm aware of can handle transmitting 1080p for bandwidth reasons.
