Re: Soundwave - TRU vs. Encore Reissue
I have both the TRU reissue and the original. The plastic does seem to be lower quality. Takara's quality on reissues is usually better. That being said you can't complain with the value of getting Soundwave, Lazerbeak and Ravage new for $40!!

That would be great! I could see Takara doing that.

Re: Soundwave - TRU vs. Encore Reissue
Worst case scenario we can get the KO 2 pack of Rumble/Buzzsaw and Frenzy/Ratbat from ages3andup once they restock.

I've been contemplating going KO for the cassettes seeing as I don't see Hasbro/Takara reissuing any of them.
Anyone have any experience with these KO's? How's the build quality?

Re: Soundwave - TRU vs. Encore Reissue
I've heard they're pretty bang on with the originals but someone had a Ratbat sent to him with broken ears but it was replaced by A3U.com

The quality of those KO cassettes is pretty good w/ metal parts in the right spots. However, the ears of the Ratbat fall off easily (this is a problem with the original anyway, I think) and in fact the first one sent to me by A3U has one of the ears missing. Spencer sent me another Ratbat w/ both ears immediately.

Re: Soundwave - TRU vs. Encore Reissue
I've been considering getting this "new" Encore Edition of Soundwave since I heard about it, but at the end of the day, gotta admit that I'm pretty happy with the Hasbro Commemorative Edition. Actually, I vastly prefer his Soundblaster chest design since I think it adds some much needed bulk to the bot mode and does what I always wanted it to as a kid - hold more that just 1 cassette.
But I agree, it would be VERY nice if Hasbro or Takara officially released Buzzsaw, Rumble, Frenzy & Ratbat again. And included plastic cases for each of them the same way Hasbro did for the Commemorative Edition.

Re: Soundwave - TRU vs. Encore Reissue
I would say if your just looking for a Soundwave and not into collecting a bunch of one toy the TRU one more then fits the bill, especially for the price.
I have an original G1 Soundwave, the TFC reissue, TFC Soundblaster, and TRU Soundwave and despite the cool packaging I'm giving the Encore a miss.
