MP-27 Ironhide... Shipping/Release Speculation and Enthusiasm Thread

Anyone prordered from AE. This is my first time preordering from them. Just paid for my shipping. I bought from them before. I usually can choose from a few shipping options. But when I got the request of shipping payment, there was only Fast Shipping and Economy Shipping. My question is what exactly fast shipping is and what exactly economy shipping is. i.e Fedex or EMS vs SAL or SAL registered. Thx

Looks like Fast = EMS (3-5 days) and Slow = SAL (2-3 weeks)

From their FAQ:
- Tracking numbers beginning with RR are SAL Small packet (2-3 weeks delivery time)
- Tracking numbers beginning with CC are SAL Postal Parcel (2-3 weeks delivery time)
- Tracking numbers beginning with EI or EJ are EMS (3-5 days delivery time)

Well the price difference between SAL Registered and EMS at AmiAmi was 750 at a cost of 2040JPY so nearly 10 bucks more not the couple bucks more I hoped for based on HLJs numbers.

In the end not totally sure what method I'm going with at this point.

I ordered Ironhide from Anime-Export. After conversion "fast" shipping was about $26.00 CAD. Seems that is quite a bit more than HLJ. Part of the trouble with pre-ordering from Japan is that these places will not provide a shipping quote until they actually have the toy. That is understandable, but flat rate shipping from Japan would sure be nice.

HLJ's website is really good to use for shipping estimate. Even if it's a new pre-order item, you can pick a similar size item and put in the cart to estimate the shipping rate.

For example. All MP-28 should be very similar in size and weight as the other MP cars. MP-30 should be the same as MP-27, and MP-29 should be similar to MP-13.

I personally don't like flat rate. It's a trap. People think that can take advantage of flat rate shipping and they end up buying a lot more. A lot of items from Japan come in small package so I'd rather pay according to their relative size and weight.
