Re: Question about jizaitoys customs
A lot. The production runs are so small they're almost customs.

Re: Question about jizaitoys customs
Only Wheelie, Cyclonus and Powerglide have been offered for sale I believe. I got the first two for around $200 USD each a couple years ago.

Re: Question about jizaitoys customs
^^ That's actually a good price...what are they now, $500 or so? Would really like to see that Ironhide finished. This toymaker is beyond amazing.

Re: Question about jizaitoys customs
Someone should correct me if I'm wrong, but basically there's an event called Wonderfest in Japan where Takara gives free license to any hobby/garage kit makers to sell product based on their characters. I believe this is where the bulk of the Jizaitoys product were originally sold. I also think Powerglide is due for another small run re-issue, either the past wonderfest or the upcoming one. Remember seeing a news post about it on their site somewhere recently.
He's had pics of early stage ironhide and octane proto's up for quite awhile. I believe they were started before the universe versions were announced, so I don't know if that affected their developement or if they'll still see release or not at some point.

Re: Question about jizaitoys customs
Thank you very much Retread. That's helpful.
I'm considering basing my degree thesis on a transformer toy. I just wanted to know what the rules were.

Re: Question about jizaitoys customs
So long as it falls under fair use laws, I'm sure you'd be fine. Hasbro can hold trademarks and copyrights on characters and specific designs, but they can't claim ownership of a certain type of joint or movement sequence.
