Re: My first Complete Nes Reproduction

One game(rom) per cart.

Sorry for the delay. I just got out of the hospital and will be dealing with these kidney stones for the next week minimum. They have me on a few pain killers till my next operation. So I will not be doing any custom work. Till my mind is clear of these drugs.

Thanks to everyone for understanding.

I'll start off, in my mind, what I am writing makes mind. However, I am on some heavy meds as I write this. So I will re write this once I'm not in so much pain.

Say you want to play Final Fantasy 3 on the original nintendo hardware. Well there are a few ways you can go about that. 1: Buy the game from Japan with a 60 to 72 pin connector, The game will be in its native Japanese. 2: Use one of the many Fan Translated Roms out there and play it on a emulator for the computer.

3: You can pay me for the service (not the rom it self) to be placed onto a eprom. Which then will be installed onto a original donor cart. Say in this Case a very select version of SMB2. Plus I need to swap out extra Sram and install/wire in a battery/resistors and caps that were never there on the board. Plus I order in nice label to install on the donor shell. This is an extreme case for a NES game. Some take alot less work. This one takes several hours and more then one donor cart to do.

Once again. I am not selling you the rom data. I'm am just providing the service of placing it onto a cart.

So that it can be played on a North American system without any modifications.

Re: My first Complete Nes Reproduction

Wow, I didn't know people did this. Cool.

A bit off topic but, I've got an old NES cartridge that I don't know if it's worth anything. It has no label on it but I think it's the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2. (Lost Levels) It's the one with the hard F*cked up levels and the dark mushrooms that kill you.

When I was a kid we found that it would only work on certain machines. I'm not sure why.
My NES is long since gone as well as all my games, but this one cart I kept. I'm not even sure if it still works.

Any ideas where it might have come from?

Re: My first Complete Nes Reproduction

my first impression is bootleg, due to the eprom. Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2. (Lost Levels) was original a fds game. not cartridge.

even prototypes have nintendo markings on the pcb.

please email more pictures of both sides of the board. gaetznes at gmail dot com

edit.
it may not work on all consoles due o the lockout chip revisions.

Lost Levels! Never heard of that one!! Wonder if it would work on my NES... I pretty much only play Super Mario 1-2-3, Duck Hunt, Tetris and Bases Loaded 3 on that thing.

Re: My first Complete Nes Reproduction

This thread brings back memories. I still have my original NES and it still works, lol...

My favourite games are Mega Man 1, Ice Hockey, and Pro Wrestling. My brother and I played the sports games all the time when we were younger.

'Lost levels' is the name Nintendo released it as in 'Super Mario All Stars' for SNES. It was actually Super Mario's Bros. 2 in Japan. Nintendo never released it in North America. Our Super Mario Bros. 2 was actually a modified version of a another game called Doki Doki Panic. They just put Mario in it instead of some guy in a turban. I read all this in a Nintendo Power magazine around the time All Stars hit the market. The developers thought the game would be too difficult for us.

Re: My first Complete Nes Reproduction

That's some nice looking work Gaetz.

As for the mystery cart, it looks like a Famicom game placed inside a NES cart with an edge contact adaptor. Who ever did it ever drilled out the middle screw pin as to not interfere with the Famicom PCB.

I'm curious was it screwed together with the usual Nintendo reverse torx screws or were they normal?
