Transformers movie Autobot deaths

Who here was sad after the deaths of: Jazz, Ironhide, Ratchet, Jetfire, Arcee, Chromia, Elita-One, Wheeljack, Leadfoot. I was sad when Jazz, Ratchet, Ironhide, Leadfoot, Wheeljack when they were pleading for mercy at the hands of the Decepticons before their demise. Ironhide was the backbone and Prime's bodyguard, Jazz was Prime's second in command and for Ratchet he was Prime's trusted fellow Autobot and field medic.

Re: Transformers movie Autobot deaths

I think they killed them off just to make room for the new characters (can't have them all on that CGI budget) same as the '86 movie.

Ironhide's death was sudden and pointless. The movies were okay for action etc...I still don't think of them as the Transformers though.

I think they killed Ironhide to send a message to the Autobots saying "Were not fooling around anymore" and the true colors of Sentinel Prime becoming a traitor

Re: Transformers movie Autobot deaths

Was gonna say Jazz survived but realized you're referencing Bayverse TFTM '07, not TFTM '86.

Truthfully the only time I felt anything during the Bayverse movies was when Sector 7 caught Bumblebee after he saved Sam and Mikaela from falling to their deaths off of Prime when they were hiding under the overpass. A lot of it had to do with Steve Jablonsky's score and the novelty of the film at the time.

Also when the Autobots answer 'Bee's call and come to Earth as meteors is another stirring scene. Again, Jablonsky's "Arrival To Earth" plays a large part.

I found Ratchet's death unsettling and disturbing. Ironhide's death was a WTF moment.

Shocked by Jazz and Ironhide's death in the Bayverse yes. (Both for different reasons during for lack of better words "maturity" of the fiction and it's viewers)

Sad? It's hard to be sad for characters you barely know.

My wife watches the movies " to humor me " but she was tearin up when prime and ironhide die. I like the movie cons more than bots so I thought it was awesome when megs ripped jazz in half, blew a hole in primes chest and especially when lockdown ripped out ratchets spark."Neva is here!"

Re: Transformers movie Autobot deaths

As I get older I guess I am getting more sentimental. The first time I saw the '86 movie it was about '88 and i was a teen and thought it cool when I first saw the attack on the shuttle and brawn got hit, but not until Prowl took his shot and went through his death scene did it strike home that characters were gonna die and was more in a blood lust to see it. Now when I watch it I do feel the "loss" when Prime dies even though I know it is a cartoon and that he does come back. lol

As for the Bayvers movies, when the main cast is killed or tortured I guess I feel for them. Like Bumblebee being tortured by Sector 7 guys and when Megatron "kills" Optimus in the 2nd movie, as for Ironhide, and Ratchet I was in shock and felt kinda numb about their demise. As for the rest, they were just back drop and fodder with no real attatchment for me.
