It is directly based on the original BW II Lio Convoy(aka Leo Prime).

Just more of a super mecha robot kitty rather than a real furry kitty.

I still prefer the more Zoids-like design they originally teased us with rather than this sleeker Japanese super robot anime design.

I don't think I'll pick up this coloration, but if they release a cool repaint, I might buy it.

It doesn't make me think of baboon at all, even with your image.
