What kind of damage is this?
Hello,
A few months ago, I picked up a used G1 Tailspin. He has some kind of ragged plastic on his chest, where a hole should be. Does anyone know what might have caused this? Thanks!

Re: What kind of damage is this?
It resembles the realistic "battle damage" my friend used to give his G.I.Joes with a magnifying glass or lighter. Kids are dumb sometimes. It could also be melted from friction but I have no clue why someone would grind his crotch off.
That's a shame, Tailspin is my favourite figure from the Autobot Race Car Patrol.

Could also be some sort of hobby plastic glue as well. Plastic glue "fuses" pieces together by essentially melting them together.

Yes that too. I once had a g1 devastator that started to break on me so i used half a bottle of superglue to fix it and then put it in combined mode while wet. (I was 8...)
The resulting amputation looked a lot like that when it was done. Poor devy was never the same. He died a sad sad shadow of his former glory...

Re: What kind of damage is this?
I figured it might have been some kind of burn damage. I just thought it was strange that the melted stuff was in the hole (which is mostly untouched). Thanks for the help.

Yeah. Looks like there's residue from another piece. There's also those yellowish marks.

There is a chunk of plastic missing from his waist area, including a red sticker. Some of the residue could be from that. No idea about the yellow.

I've had this figure since 1988 and there has never been a red sticker on him. Only the Micromaster bases came with stickers, not the 4 packs.

Might have been red paint, then. I'm just going by what TFWiki shows.
