In G1 I remember Optimus Prime disguised as Motormaster with a few other Autobots too, so that's what Pascal said, already done, right?

Teletran scanned g1 cartoon to have the tfs.meaning all both auto bot and decepticons to be able to blend in and as far as the cartoon no they cannot tell differance hence the blend in cammo the move did this with prime hiding in a new for and lock down unable to find him by scan...the scan the other bot has merit just as mind control did in g1

I recall Teletran 1 doing all the scans in the 1st episode of MTMTE. I thought it was because Prime had powered down that Lockdown couldn't find him in TF4. I think there are legitimate points on either side of this question.

Teletran 1 scanned the alt modes for the original G1 TFs because it needed something to use as a reference to fix them as Teletran 1 had been damaged as well. That was why it could not tell the difference between Autobots and Decepticons. It also thought the cars and trucks and planes were the dominant life form of Earth and it assumed the TFs would just be fitting in, not using them as disguises.

In G1 cartoon, maybe they scan once they can't scan again to transform into something else.
While in the Bay's movie they can scan as much times as they want.
