lazy seller is charging for local pick up on a local pick up only sale.

I was looking for some good deals on evilbay and saw this auction.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370286272958&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I couldnt believe it. the seller is auctioning off the roadbuster/dirge set as is starting at .99 and it is a local pickup only auction, they refuse to ship this item. down the page reads...

LOCAL PICK UP INFO

·DO NOT SEND PAYPAL FOR LOCAL PICK UPS.

·Cash is the only method of payment accepted on local pick up
items are subject to a non-refundable Pick Up Fee
CND $6.00 for the first item, and CND $4.00 for each additional item

I could not believe it. of all the lazy money grubbing things I've seen on ebay... this is pretty bad.

my wife didn't want me to bid on this item, she said that it looked fishy, "money only" what if you drive all the way
(hour and a half away on the highway) to pick up the toy and they "roll ya" (mug).... I told her that I'd have to leave a negative feedback for them if that happened. lol/

Well it looks like they're an auctioneer store/business posting on ebay. They love to add extra fees to everything.

Maybe he used to ship out and just used the text template from when he did, forgetting to change it. Either way it's pretty funny.

you know, if you're really want to, you can get ebay to cancel his auction or penalize him for saying he only accepts cash (because he actually wrote it on his auction page and it is not technically allowed)!!!

Yup... I just noticed it says all ontario residents must pay 13% tax with anywhere else in canada paying 5% PST which I believe he means GST.

Regardless... I've dealt with people who charge a small fee for local pickup (like $2) and the reason this person did it was because some of his auctions would only end for $2 when they were really worth say $5 so the $2 handling fee ensured he didn't actually loose money right across the board.

When I was living in PoCo, I once won an Armada dvd boxset on Ebay and the seller was living like 2 streets from me. He never accepted pickup and he was charging almost double actual shipping. That was still lower than retail plus tax. When I finally agreed to make payment anyway, he told me he didn't have it in stock anymore. Complete BS.

In terms of GST, which was mentioned earlier, if the product is over $30 and they are charging gst, they have to give you their business number (GST number) as proof that they're registered. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tp...i/nvc-eng.html

You can probably also take that business number and then call the CRA and make sure they're registered, or tell them the seller is selling on ebay. The CRA would be glad to ask ebay for their records and make sure they're reporting the income.
