moving with your collection.
so, its that time again where i must pack everything up to move to a new apartment. its probably the thing i like doing least in the world, and packing up the toys is NEVER fun.
how do you guys do it? my thing is putting stuff in ziplock bags (things that'll fit in them anyways) and hoping for the best! ughhhhh

Re: moving with your collection.
Same as you, zipplock it, tag it, put it in a paper box, so it doesnt get to heavy. Dont want one crushing another.

That's what I did - ziploc bags in boxes.

Re: moving with your collection.
Same here but with big on the bottom working smaller as I go up separated by crumpled newspaper or any other packing material on hand. Last move I did took 37 19"x16"x18" boxes and that was 7 years ago, I hope I never have to do that again!

Re: moving with your collection.
I use plastic totes Good ones that don't crush, freezer bags for some loose pieces (you can getem at the dollar store for a turkey size)I bubble wrap the pieces so they don't rub on one another and place thick bath towels between layers as these absorb the weight and protect from scratches also keeping in mind weight and fragility of pieces some stuff like the protos I don't stack pieces on top,... and others like primus I make up a styro ring to protece those fragile projections that sick out all over and he is packed in a tote by himself nothing else.I don't use the styro peanuts as they stick to everything and if by some chance a loose piece falls off in transit your likly not to spot it when dumping out the peanut afterwords.

Sucks. I did it like 5 times. My collection was never that huge though. I think it's the box/MIB collectors that get it the worst.

Re: moving with your collection.
Anything made from 1996 to today goes into rubber tubes. Who gives a F. With the exceptions of some breakables like BW Grimlock, TM Megatron ect ect.
Everything else? You won't BELIEVE what I did........ I took them 15-20 at a time over a course of 2-3 months in my car to my new place in padded boxes. I am a little crazy, but my G1 stuff I pride on being perfect.......

Re: moving with your collection.
anything after RID was put in vehicle mode and set in a huge rubbermade bin, with layers of towels in between everthing. like a plastic and towel lasagna.
sealed stuff was bubble wrapped and put in bins, very carefully.
beast wars were sorted by large and small, meaning the primals and megatrons, rampage, depth charge, and tiger hawk all wrapped in t-shirts and put in a box, all deluxe, mega, and basic BW in a bin, only scorpanok got wrapped, cause im worried about cyberbee.
MPs put back in boxes and then those boxes in a big bin
pretty much it.
only think that broke during move was movie legends scorpanok, the rubber part of his tail crumbled due to heat in truck, everything else was fine
