Power Rangers n' Kamen Rider Fandom?

Over on WTF@TFW, they were teasing the listeners about the 'thing' in Spotlight Trailcutter/Breaker (Recommended, go read it), I don't get how that is a spoiler or why bother teasing, maybe for Kamen Rider fans, but a lot of Transformer characters made a cameo in the issue but a Kamen Rider gets the attention?

Kamen Rider, I witnessed for the first time during 2008-2011 by Dragon Knight, which I liked because the show target audience was me, at the time, but didn't get into it. Never got into Power Rangers ever since after MMPR (I'm a child of the 90's).

Anyways, why are these two series more popular than ever among the Transformers fandom?

Re: Power Rangers n' Kamen Rider Fandom?

Not sure about Kamen Rider... but Power Rangers shares that certain "Japanese Robot" aesthetic that's particularly prevalent in G1 (especially the Diaclone-based stuff), so I can see why they appeal to Transformers collectors aesthetically. As for me personally, I'm not a huge fan... but despite its cheesiness, I still remember Power Rangers with fondness. I would watch it sometimes in the morning before going off to school, when I was in high school.I hear there are some Bandai Japan figures coming? I wouldn't mind a set of the original five Rangers, plus Green/White Ranger. They look pretty sweet.

I'm guessing this is the cameo it makes, any normal TF fan would pass that as some character:

Vangelus and TJ Omega might've had something to do with that. Tokumei Sentai Gobusters is a Sentai series I think Transformers fans could get into.

The Sentai material is always better then the Power Rangers adaption IMO.

And yeah Kamen Rider V3 showing up in that recent IDW Comic could have something to do with it too.

Re: Power Rangers n' Kamen Rider Fandom?

Not surprised it came up on the Even team episode. It was hosted by three pretty big Kamen Rider fans, of course they'd bring it up. It probably would have been only a passing mention on an Odd episode, if even brought up at all.

As for the big fuss, I'm not that surprised at all. It's a cameo from an entirely unrelated franchise made in a piece of Transformers media. It's a very rare and very surprising occurrence, so of course fans of the series would be stoked and vocal about it.

If, say, a Transformer turned into a Tardis in the background, or a Transformer looking a lot like Char's Zaku was seen in a random panel, their respective fanbases would be freaking out just the same.

While I enjoy both series (was a Kamen Rider fan back in the early 2000s). I think it's resurgence has more to do with the fandom just being bored. That will then shift to TMNT and other things later.

WTF!??!?!?!?! I'm a Kamen Rider fan and that blows my mind. I'm a few episodes behind on the podcast.

And Go-Busters is a fantastic show.
