The Covenant of Primus

So I gather I'm not the only one who recently received this incredible artifact! How about we discuss it a bit?

There was quite a lot of packaging layer to get through to get to the book but I think, on the whole, it's totally worth it. The case is pretty impressive, though feels a little flimsier than I would have liked.

The book has some gorgeous illustration and, while I haven't read it all in details, a lot of the stuff is great. Onyx Prime is pretty amazing. There's also an interesting explaination of Transformers 'genders' too. Apparently there's one 'female' for every twelve 'male', copying the ratio of the Thirteen Primes. The Quintesson invasion is pretty fantastic stuff, and I really like the way they took over. That giant scene from the War for Cybertron is pretty amazing, with Metroplex, Bruticus and Devastator and even Lugnut showing up!

Also Mecury is pretty much Pinkie Pie leading a gaggle of shifters! She's kinda crazy.

Other stuff...not so great. There's still a bunch of rather odd editing mistake here or there. For exemple Amalgamous Prime is described in one paragraph as having a scythe as his artifact of power, but then later it says it's the Transformation Cog (the original one).

And the big one... that timeline is way too short. Even if we're talking millions of years, since these are Transformers, it feels RIDICULOUS that Orion Pax (now apparently Thirteen's reincarnation) lived alongside Predacons! I think it would have been far more interesting if the Predacons had appeared between the battle with Unicron and the War of the Primes, for exemple. It also leaves no room for a lineage of Primes to form since, after the Thirteen create life on Cybertron the only Prime is the elected Sentinel Zeta and then after that it's straight to Optimus. Doesn't work at all with that whole 'what it takes to be a Prime' idea that was supposed to be so important to Transformers Prime.

I really feel like there really isn't enough 'room' left in that History for more stories to potentially exist. It's a tad...strict.

How about some pictures? I'm considering getting this but not convinced.

Edit: my apologies. Just found this cool thread by Longshot

Re: The Covenant of Primus

I haven't gotten this yet but does look very cool. But being a Covenant in title I would image it to be strict in itself.
From the Marvel G1 incarnation of how Cybertronians where raised from the surface of Primus himself. Does every 13th prodginy some how affect the ongoing struggle of Primus himself?

Re: The Covenant of Primus

I'm so angry at myself for not pre-ordering at amazon.ca when they had it for $45...I just can't bring myself to pay $75+ for it. As awesome as it looks.

The book will likely be issued alone (without the cool casing) in a few months and be less than $20. They did the same thing with the Jedi Path and The Book of Sith Vault versions (I have both of those). The same publishers did this Covenent book so if it's the book you are only interested in, patience.

I feel like the Transformers book fans are getting short changed though. First the pop up book, now this. The Star Wars pop up books are far superior to the transformers one. And the Star Wars Vault Editions were packed full of extra relics, light effects and automated. It's too bad, I would have bought this but I think I'll wait for the book-only release.

Edit: thank you Protoman for the extensive video review

Very good to know. Thanks!

Now to decide between this version with casing and the potential book by itself. Hmm.

As random note I'd like to see a Doctor Cogwheel repaint of Airachnid, the two are obviously similar in body type.

Re: The Covenant of Primus

I pre ordered this way back when and completely forgot about it until I got the shipped notic and was like "etc did I order from Amazon? I've never ordered from amazon".. glad I did though I guess to get it much cheaper.

The box it came in was massive and I was thinking "how big is this f'ing book?!" But of course its the c rappy packaging. Small box in a massive one with the strip of bunched up brown paper bunched up for protection.

Haven't opened the book yet.

yeah I opened it the same morning I bought metroplex and the metroplex box could be fitted in the amazon shipping box and still have some place for the filling brown paper

Good thing there was a free shipping option.
