The official Soul of Chogokin thread

I know we're a few SOC fans here, but let's see if we can convert even more people to the greatness of Bandai die-cast super robots.

I remember first being pro-Transformers and anti-everything else. That was until Spencer (A3U) presented me a few non-HasTak transforming mechas from other lines.

I first bought GX-28 Xabungle. It was a small one, but it was also an inexpensive way to test the line. I was instantly hooked. Cool die-cast parts, nifty transformation, articulation, tons of accessories... and it felt expensive, which was important to me. When I successively got Combattler V, Voltes V, Zambot 3 and Dancougar, I got more and more impressed. Now, I'm probably more excited by new SOC figures than new Transformers. Too bad they only produced a few each years (but at that price, it might be a good thing)... Ideon, Gunbuster and Voltes V are my 3 favorites.

Now, I'm really looking forward getting Iron Gear and Reideen. I have the GD-09R DX version of Reideen (pretty much a copy of the original DX toy from the '70s, only slightly bigger and different colors) and I love the egyptian vibe. A fully transforming and articulated version can only mean heaven!

Re: The official Soul of Chogokin thread

I was tempted to get into them for a while already but I always resist the temptation... until Volts V In fact, I bought 2 (one opened and one keep in MISB condition). I also bought a custom made diecast sword (v.s. the plastic one came with the figure) originated from Hong Kong.

I have preordered two GX-39 Machine Robo Baikanfu slated for November and the SoC God Marz planned for next year will be a must buy for me. I may also get the Ideon later... it just looks grand.

I'm also into the Revoltech figures, esp. for the Getta Robot figures from that line in particular.

(megatroptimus: may I ask where did you get your Diaclone Dia Battles?)

I could be wrong but I don't think they made a diecast 1/60 Zaku II. The only ones that I know of in this scale are:

(1) Perfect Grade Zaku II model kits (MS-06F and MS-06S)

(2) The original 1/60 Zaku II kits (these are from the early 80's)

(3) A couple of expensive 1/60 remote controlled Zaku II toys that have a CCD mono-eye video camera and a working BB gun

Re: The official Soul of Chogokin thread

the only SOC i have is voltes v. i'd love to seriously follow the line but TFs are already taking up most of my finances. but yeah, this line is really awesome. i'd want to get my hands on combattler and dancougar, to name a few.

We should have a Gundam thread as well! I'm collecting the Zetas.
