Actually, she immediately asked if he was 34 years old.

That was point judgementality and pretty much started it.

Perhaps but responding 'Yeah, what's you're point' wasn't the most tactful choice. Had he just responded with out getting defensive the conversation might have gone differently.

To me there is a combination of ignorance with a sprinkling of rudeness to the what the woman implied.

Personally I might have skipped defensive and moved onto something less polite if she was going to question my choice of hobby within like a minute of meeting me.

I don't know why we should view ourselves as owing people an explanation about what we do. No one would ever ask for an explanation about why someone likes to go to the bar.......

I agree,not ideal tactic.

But her point was exactly what was suspected.
The idea that grown men should be denied Transformers, because that's what's "normal".

Being a woman and in my 30s, I get it from both sides lol But I always figure there are worst things to spend my money on and most of my friends understand that. Tho I had one friend tell me that they'd only play toys with their grandkids and that kinda irked me.

Are you really that easily offended? You have your hobbies and she has hers. No difference if you said you like cooking and painting. We all developed our passions when we were kids. A boy who like Lego may grow up to be a builder or architect. A girl who like barbie may grow up to be a fashion merchant or interior designer. It's not just about you or her. It's about you AND her. It's about comparability, and finding common interests.

I have interests other than action figures and model kits. Even the TF designers at Takara and Hasbro have interests other than toys. So take it easy man.
