Darn their suboptimal paint job on Cyclonus! Looks like I'll be waiting for the Henkei version...

I'll be getting Hound so I can have ravage...anyone actually want just Hound? ;-)

Don't panic yet about Cyclonus' paint job. It was just confirmed by Hasbro themselves that everything we have seen so far have been test shots with inaccurate colors. According to them, Cyclonus will (supposedly) still have the purple nosecone that is pictured in the official promo photos. They even stated that Ironhide's baby blue face is a screw-up and that it'll be getting a running change once it's released so that it's proper grey/silver.

It's from the IDW portion of Hasbro's latest Q&A sessions done with all the separate forums:

IDW: Why did you choose that particular deco for Universe 2.0 Deluxe Cyclonus and Nightstick, which differs radically from the prototype? Many fans liked the purple prototype.

Hasbro: Sometimes test shots come in and all of the molds are not cast in the correct colors. But that's why test shots exist, so that we can catch those problems before the toy is produced. In this example, an image of a Cyclonus testshot was released and fans had issues. But rest assured, the mold is going to remain purple and match the initial prototype image.

IDW: Why the baby blue for Universe 2.0 Ironhide's face? It was originally silver, which was correct. It changed from proto to production to baby-blue. Ironically Robot Heroes Ironhide came out at the same time, he had the correct silver face. Why the difference?

Hasbro: It's supposed to be silver. When I last saw the final paint on the figure it was silver. But somehow in the development process, someone somewhere picked up a blue brush instead of the silver one. We are currently making a "running change" on the face so future Ironhides will be correct.

Well if that's true than what is this guy selling on ebay? A prototype? He does mention some weird etching on the wings...but if it's a prototype wouldn't he list it as such to get a greater price?

He's selling exactly what I referenced in both of my above posts - a test shot. Basically it's just one of multiple 'demo' figures that were manufactured so as to see how the paint looks, how the joints look, etc. and overall act as a preview to determine what changes or corrections, if any, still need to be made before the figure goes into mass production. That's why virtually none of these ever come with packaging and why most of them have some sort of hand made markings.

Prototypes are entirely different than test shots.
