In addition to the just-revealed Masterpiece Beast Wars Megatron, Shizouka Hobby Show also has our first look at upcoming repaints of Masterpiece Shockwave (Laserwave) and Megatron! Aptly numbered MP-29+ and MP-36+ these two mimic the look of the original Generation 1 toys rather than the cartoon models. Shockwave features a much darker purple color scheme with clear hands and a flat silver gun barrel rather than a grey one, and Megatron is sporting a new head, his iconic chest decals, the ability to mount his gun barrel on his hip, and a few other toy-accurate paint details. Takara Tomy Mall exclusive. My money is saved!

I really NEED to see Masterpiece Shockwave (Laserwave) MP-29+ in person. I like MP-29s colour but I'm intrigued to see him darker like the toy.

How difficult is it to get a Takara Tomy Mall exclusive? Should I just continue my search for the original Laserwave MP? I prefer this one because of the toy colours and the fact that there are so many KOs of the regular release.

It's almost as though they purposely gave us an inaccurate colored version of MP29 so that they can later sell us the plus version with the proper shade of purple...

Takara's plan when they unified the MP line was to be as cartoon, and scale, accurate as possible. The first release will always be based on the cartoon, not the toy.

To say they purposely gave us an inaccurate colour is just wrong.

As for these two re-releases, they look great, but I don't think I can justify buying them twice. Especially at Megatron's price point.

even worse its a tt mall exclusive with a pretend limited supply and higher price. mp-11nr was only 2000 pieces but another million somehow fell off the back of a truck in china
