Read the URL, suspected there was an extra character there. Edited it manually and found the correct link:

hmm. Seems to be that the only way to get this to canada is to buy both volumes ( 1 & 2). Individual volumes are US only…

don't really know too much about kick-starters, so please forgive me if the answer to this question is obvious lol:

If I contribute to the kickstarted to get two books,
and you don't reach your fundraising goal of $50,000
then I assume the books don't get made?
Is that right?

If that's the case, what happens to the donations people have put into kickstarted buddy?

On Kickstarter, if you pledge to back a project, and it doesn't hit its goal, everyone gets their money back and the person who posted the project gets nothing.

Kickstarter only funds if the project reaches its goal.

I've backed numerous successful (and failed) kickstarters projects.

From the kickstarter website FAQ:

All-or-nothing funding is a core part of Kickstarter and has a number of advantages:
It's less risk for everyone. If a project doesn’t reach its funding goal, creators will not be expected to complete their project without the funds necessary to do so, and backers will not be charged.

It motivates. Adding a sense of urgency motivates your community to spread the word and rally behind your project.

It works. Of the projects that have reached 60% of their funding goal, 98% were successfully funded. We find that projects either realize and surpass their goal, or they never fully take off.
