SXS-A03 Upgrades for Generations Blitzwing

The worst thing about Blitzwing was the head. It was too big. It messes up his transformation. The chunky yellow paint was already flaking off inside the brand new package. The faces all looked goofy. I know there are some fans of the animated version multi-faces but that has nothing to do with the G1 character which is all I care about. The original head is so bad, I'm tossing it in the trash. I left the toy in the box for several months until I got my replacement today.

After waiting several months for Dr Wu's Bitz set to come out, I had a look at the finish photos and video reviews and it looked terrible. The head was more G1 accurate but it was still too big. One Youtube review showed that the nosecone still couldn't close with the Dr Wu head (it does with SXS). The feature with the ugly Terminator skull underneath made the eyes look terrible. The overall shape was too blocky and simple and didn't accent the details of Blitzwing's design.

I went with my original choice, the SXS set which has one of the best headsculpts I've ever owned. The head features an amazing visor. The light piping leaves these amazing swirling patterns all over the visor and you don't even need direct light for them to shine through. It's that good. Unfortunately, my phone camera really can't capture it. The Dr Wu version can't do this because the light piping goes to two tiny holes that form the eyeballs of the skull mode.

The extra missiles have a lot of uses in all 3 modes and you can attach all the parts, including the shoulder clips in all 3 modes as well. The only drawback to the set is that the purple shoulder clips and purple rifle don't match exactly with the original toy but the added accents actually do quite well, giving him some variety.

Well stated, I own this kit also and love it...I was amazed how much I like the missiles over and above the much I proved head and solid shoulders. I find the purple compliments the other purples in the figure, and really looks just fine when installed...

They have it on BBTS for $30. Which is more than I paid for the actual figure.

I won't rebuy Blitzwing now and get this, but how do the shoulder fixes work?

How common were these head issues? I didn't have any issues with the multi-face gimmick or transforming him around the head.
