They had giant bins of unorganized comics near the front of the store, and a couple times a year I'd go there and just rifle through the piles, pulling out any TF comics I could find. I was a long ways from a complete collection, but I always had more than enough to get a general idea of what the storylines were, and that was good enough for me.
Some of my favorite stories were the Scraplets (because they were my introduction to the Triple Changers, which I wanted so badly), and the Man of Iron (the bold print reminding the reader to never accept rides from strangers after the kid gets into Jazz still makes me chuckle for some reason).
I really ought to go and grab them from my parents place and relive a few memories!

lol wish I had the comics up here in Keswick back in the day. All we ever got was Archie .
Only recently did I get to experience a small taste of the Marvel UK and US comics....both with the Best of UK - Space Pirates (yay for awesome Soundwave cover! ) and ONE issue of the US comic staring Goldbug and Blaster being attacked by humans. (good times, good times )

Ah! Thought of another one...Bumblebee becomes Goldbug rather quickly in the comics but eventually is rebuilt into Bumblebee (for the pretender) by Ratchet....his reason, "I always liked you more as Bumblebee"
....Ratchet was a dick :P

That storyline with Blaster and Goldbug I had always found interesting, even as a kid. I never did get the issues that closed that chapter, so I never knew how that resolved.
Thank goodness for the wiki!

Holy crap, you guys bring up The Smelting Pool comic.
I totally remembered back to my childhood.
I felt so bad for Scrounge in that issue, hell I still feel bad for him, now.

Re: Canadian Slag Episode 32 - Are All Brain Dead
Finally listening to this episode. I really enjoyed the stuff about the Marvel comics. I used to dig for those all the time in the old comic book store that used to be in my neighborhood in the 90's. I was only ever able to find three issues: The debute issue of Powermaster Prime, the last issue of the Underbase saga (yay seacons and dinobots!... oh, now they're dead. ), and the issue that came after that (yay, Snarler!).
I have the IDW collection volume 1 preordered but I do plan to get the collected editions of the G1 Marvel comics because I always loved the colouring, character designs, and stories. Hopefully I can save up some extra cash and wait for a lull in my TF toy buying.
Great episode, guys!
*EDIT*
In regards to Energon Sharkticon, I'd love to see him repainted into the seacon Overbite (and Energon Mirage into Snaptrap, Cybertron Sideways into Seawing, Cybertron Thunderblast into Scylla, and Cybertron Shortround into Nautilator). or the comic only character Triton. I love my marineformers.

Re: Canadian Slag Episode 32 - Are All Brain Dead
This is the only episode of Canadian Slag that I listened to after downloading episode#1. While the information was interesting, the podcast was quite hard to listen to.
Were there lag issues? It sounded like you were all talking over one another and not responding to one another. Honestly, I didn't finish the episode because of this. Are all the episodes like this or was something off that day?

Ya...I can understand this took me a while to get through it myself as I kept getting bored and moving on....I still gotta read the G2 comics :P

Not as grouchy but some of his actions seemed damn near equal...but I don't think Animated Ratchet would rebuild anyone against their own will...

That's the problem now a days, all the issues can't be reprinted, ya see certain characters (*cough Circuit breaker) are owned by Marvel and as such can't get reprinted so no matter how much IDW tries there will be gaps and unfortunately she shows up frequently...
So if you're looking for a complete collection your best bet is the Titan trade paperbacks that came out a few years back.

I've been deadly ill the last few weeks so the editing may not have been as good as it usually is. Feel free to look back and see if there's any topics we covered you may be interested in, they all got great replay value as the information isn't current topics for the most part.
Take the good, as well as the bad, and let us be judged accordingly. The rest, is silence
