Because it just started shipping. This is the MASTERPIECE Primal, not the platinum edition garbage from last year.

And no, TRU doesn't have it. Japan release.

Are you telling me there are 2 separate $200 Optimus Prime toys that transform into gorillas? Every time I saw this in the store I just assumed it was the Masterpiece version, who would pay $200 for that? And why would they release both versions at the same time?

Well with shipping from Japan mine came to about $140. It's also like half the size of the TRU one at least. It scales pretty well with older BW figures.
