I was going to avoid seeing anything past the teaser because I hate spoilers, but what the hell, couldn't wait any longer. And I feel the same as you do, in fact that trailer almost unsold me on the whole thing. It didn't feel like I got anything out of it except a glimpse of the (I'm guessing) Batwing at the end. Of course, I'm going to see the movie anyways, but going to be expecting a lot better than this trailer.

Nolan is smart and he is fully aware of the hype and I think he can avoid the trap that befell X-men 3 and Spider-man 3. He doesn't want it bigger, and Warner had learnt the lesson from Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, so they didn't push Nolan to do Batman 3 right away (Unlike Paramount which push out fast food sequels like ROTF and Iron Man 2). I am sure Nolan keeps his best out of the trailers and prologue.

When I think about it, I think my issue was that the football stadium blowing up and the kid singing gave me the bad impression this movie is going to be some mindless explody action movie. It was all flash, style and explosions with no substance behind it. Of course, 100% sure the movie won't be that at all. And definitely Nolan is keeping all the surprises close to his chest until the movie is done.

I hope there will be a nice "The Art of The Dark Knight Rises" book.

The Art of Batman Begins was good, but The Dark Knight book was 176 pages of script with just 64 pages of art and still photos.
