Confused with the different version of the ROTF DVD/Blu-Ray...

Basically, if I want the Blu-Ray version with the IMAX scenes included, is that available every where (Futureshop?) or a Exclusivity of Wal-Mart?

I read some news and some say its a Wal-Mart exclusive and some doesn't.

Well the easiest way to find out is go to walmart and see if it says exclusive to walmart or not. By the looks of it i'd say it is.

Re: Confused with the different version of the ROTF DVD/Blu-Ray...

From past experience with this sort of release, I usually find US Walmart Exclusive doesn't necessarily apply to Canada. You could find out that the so called exclusive is available to every store here. Or to none in Canada.

I have been on the Futureshop forums asking if the Steelbook Blu-ray is going to have the IMAX scenes or not. So far no answer. Which is usually a bad sign.

HMV also gets their hands on this sort of exclusive usually. So if for some reason Walmart doesn't have the IMAX version, and no one else does, they might be worth checking out.

As for me, I ain't buying it unless its the IMAX (Extended Scenes) version.

Re: Confused with the different version of the ROTF DVD/Blu-Ray...

This is what I've been able to piece together for Canada:

Standard Releases (Available Everywhere)
  • DVD - Just the movie (1 disc)
  • DVD - Movie + Special Features (2 discs)
  • Blu-Ray - Movie + Special Features
Only At Future Shop:
  • Blu-Ray Steelbook version
Only at Walmart:
  • DVD with extra IMAX footage
  • Blu-Ray with extra IMAX footage
Only at HMV:
  • DVD with transforming Bumblebee case
  • Blu-Ray with transforming Bumblebee case
Only at Best Buy:
  • Blu-Ray bundle with Optimus Prime head and $50 gift card for Sideshow Collectibles

There is a DVD steelbook release from Future Shop, but as far as I can tell it will be released only in the USA at Fye's stores.

Best Buy will have the above bundle package in the USA; it is assumed (but not guaranteed) that we will get the same bundle in Canada. There does not appear to be a Best Buy exclusive DVD release.

The HMV transforming case is the same one that Target offers in the USA.

I don't own a Blu-Ray player (and won't be getting one any time soon) so I'll probably end up getting the Walmart DVD release.

Unfortunately I will be buying this Blu-Ray twice...

I bought the Michael Bay signed one from his site as soon as it became available, I really like the charity that he's donating to with the sales they make.

I will also be buying the Wal-Mart version of the Blu-Ray for the IMAX footage. if last movie was any indication, Canada will get the exclusive as well. in 07 we got the extra comic feature.

I'll be going with Walmart myself... mostly because they tend to be cheapest and I am there enough.

It's just the Forest fighting scene extended by... a min or so. So, a few extra punches and kicks thrown by all bots. A bit more of badass Prime. Nothing you would REALLY notice unless watching the 2 side by side, or one after the other.

Regardless of where one might see this extra footage, I believe it is fully worth it to buy the Wal-Mart version JUST for the extra footage.
