Yeah, it's actually better to stick to North American retailers.
Some Asian stores are selling them just a bit under ebay prices, so there goes the competitive prices...Especially from ActionHQ, their prices are outrageous.

Re: Ages 3 and Up Accepting Pre-Orders for MP-5 Megatron
I think the ones selling on Ebay right know are very limited re-stock. On a few auctions it clearly says available until december 30. BBTS also says until December, maybe January.

Re: Ages 3 and Up Accepting Pre-Orders for MP-5 Megatron
the way I understand it is that the stock available in Oct is not the 2nd run, but whatever stock left available for the 1st run. The 2nd batch comes out in Dec/Jan as per A3U or HLJ.

Is it that much cheaper to buy from HLJ, even with the shipping and possible taxes/customs fees? Plus, HLJ doesn't cater to the MISB'ers, remember?
Nothing like showing off your beat-up MP-5 (but sealed!) box as part of your collection!

Re: Ages 3 and Up Accepting Pre-Orders for MP-5 Megatron
I've ordered twice from HLJ, a gundam kit and MP06, both came in perfect condition with no damage. Packing is a bit on the light side to keep cost down though.
Price is roughly the same as A3U with the current exchange rate after you factor in higher shipping + taxes (13% gst/pst +$5 custom fee), so there is no reason to order from HLJ for MP05 and you won't get it sooner like MP06.

I thought the plug was pretty well removable no matter where you got it.

A3U and HLJ don't have any plugs, TF Source's case's of MP-5 are sealed too (not plugged), but I don't know if there will be problems of it going thru the border.
Of course, BBTS and TF Source's individual MP-5s will have plugs.
