Stupid women story

I met this girl a few weeks ago, we were getting along just fine, she was sweet funny, caring, independent. We were enjoying each others company and were having long phone convos and text messages, until she asked me what is my hobby and passion, I told her collecting Transformers figures, comics, DVD. So I asked her what is her hobby and passion, she goes shopping, sleeping, gym. This is how our subject went down;

Her: You like Transformers and buy toys?
ME: Yeah I do, always did
Her: And you are 34 years old?
Me: Yeah? what's your point?
Her: Well aren't you too old for that? I mean toys are for kids
Me: Again, like I said what's your point?
Her: My point is, you could find another hobby
Me: Goodbye!!!

Has this ever happened to you before? I mean who is she to judge me about my hobby and wanting to buy TF figures? If she is as serious as she puts it, she wouldn't be judging me and be more cool about it.

Re: Stupid women story

Sounds to me like you got defensive awfully quick. Her reaction should not come across to you as that much of a surprise, honestly. It would be more of shock if she said something along the lines of "Really?! I still collect Barbies!". Not that that would be a bad thing, but it's hard to meet people that still collect toys (edit: *FROM*, not "in") their childhood (as an adult).

Her reaction may not be as condescending as you took it to mean. You didn't give her a chance to understand why you collect what you do. Some people are pretty reasonable if you explain how you got into this hobby and why you continue to do so. Had you explained it, she may have accepted who you are and may still have been interested in you. It's one thing to walk away from her if she entirely disrespected you even after knowing why, but it sounds like you never gave her the chance.

LMAO

Awesome story and good for you. Soon as she wrote "you could find another hobby", that would have also been the end of it for me too. Not worth the effort. Be yourself, not what someone wants you to be.

Didn't realize sleeping was a hobby...

Re: Stupid women story

When my wife gives me that look, my usual response is something along the lines "Whatever keeps me away from gambling, drugs and women of ill repute."

Actually it should.
There are lots of people out there who are condescending, judgemental, and lack empathy.

But he wrote that she was sweet and caring.
Being a jerk is not a common quality for nice people, hence the surprise.
