Prices on sales threads should be mandatory

I wish there was a rule where you had to put a price on items you're selling on here. I've wasted my time with so many sellers who ask for offers on their stuff as opposed to listing prices, only to get replies back 2 days later of "That's a low ball offer compared to what I expect to get for *insert item name*"... If you have an expected price for an item why not just list it and say you're open to reasonable offers, or open for negotiation.

Am I the only one who has this opinion, please someone support my short little rant.

Is there some way the site mods can write this into the rules for the Items for Sale threads??? Please? .... PLEASE!!!!

* steps off soap box *

Re: Prices on sales threads should be mandatory

I imagine going to Walmart and seeing no prices anywhere on anything... Just a huge warehouse full of stuff at mystery prices. I take a bar of soap to the cashier and ask "How much for this bar of Irish Spring?", she looks me up and down and replies, "How much you willing to spend on it?", I look at the bar.... take a sniff.... check the weight, smile and say "$2".... She looks at me for a second, grabs the soap out of my hand and yells "Get the &*!@ out of my store!!!" and calls security.

Re: Prices on sales threads should be mandatory

haha, I know what you mean. I try to avoid those sales threads. OR I just send a request for for prices on items I'm interested in.

From my mediocre 3 months on cybertron.ca, I've noticed that usually threads that don't have a price will expect a premium over retail for MIB and probably retail for loose.

I say just send them a PM, see what they want for it and see if you can negotiate a fair price for both parties.

(I'd like to take a quick second to thank this community as a whole. I've managed to pick up over 20 figures from forums and helped me find the new prime toys during the sale. My collection has grown from 1 HFTD starscream to about 40 figures in 3 months. Thanks cybertron.ca!!!)

Agreed.

No prices listed on a sales thread usually means higher than normal pricing.

Although one could play devil's advocate and say it's acceptable for high ticket items to be posted sans prices in case the seller feels uncomfortable with fellow board members knowing what kind of cash they're hauling in.

"If you need to ask, you probably can't it"

I avoid those threads even if they are local sellers.

that i kinda of agree. the only time im *mildly* comfortable with no prices or make offers is for vintage G1 items. anything newer should have a price listed, especially for recently released stuff

Re: Prices on sales threads should be mandatory

I don't know it just seems like I'm playing an annoying game of Guess Who at the seller's house in these cases.

Me: Does the price for this item have a 2 in it?
Seller: No, guess again
Me: Does it end in one 0?
Seller: No
Me: Does it end in two 0's?
Seller: You're getting close....
Me: Is it $100?!?!
Seller: .... Get out of my house, and never look back.

* Realizes he somehow sleep walked back onto his soap box, and slowly steps down again *

Totally agree with the pricing of vintage figures. It's really hard to put a price on those type of figures. It's really up to the seller and buyer's perception of how much the item is worth to them (in my case, how desperate am I to have that figure lol).
