Ugh... There are reports that the film is a mess and the reason why none of the trailers hint at a story is because there isn't a finalized one. They're re-cutting even now and there is apparently several different endings.

it's not outside of the realm of possibility but I saw those reports. I'd take it with a grain of salt. Lotta fear-mongers and shit-stirrers out there.

New article today that states the story is very character driven... which is hilarious given their history of incessantly needing to anthropomorphize giant alien robots.
How bad of a producer and/or director do you have to be to have a 1984 animated cartoon have more character and relatability than a giant visual mess of a robot, with a robotic beard, a robotic fat gut (for some reason) and an ethnic accent.

The movie has gone through about a dozen re-edits and the general buzz from people who have seen early screenings are that the movie is a mess.
The producer saying it will be "character arc driven" is basically an admittance thanlt the movie doesn't have a theme or plot.
