Talking How much have our collections grown since joining Cybertron.ca?

I guess this could also apply to people who had account for a while & then rejoined the community at a later time, but how much have our collections grown since we started coming here every day, and how much of the blame (playfully of course) can be placed on it?

Like for me, I'm still pretty picky (be it by choice, as well as for financial & space reasons) as to why I end up buying, but I think its safe to say that my collection has doubled (if not tripled), especially in regards to the larger stuff that's joined it since early last year. I suppose its only natural (as even other things that I've had since I was a kid are playing a more active role in my shelfspace), but it came up in conversation earlier today & I thought it'd be cool to see how its been for others.

Actually, if simply being part of an active community didn't do it, (or even if it did), what other factors can be attributed to its growth?

Re: How much have our collections grown since joining Cybertron.ca?

I started here September of 2010 after a fellow board member (Chovner) had told me to join. I had well under 100 figures at that point. Now according to my Shmax account I now have over 700 figures, with many more on preorder and hoping to preorder when available.

I blame this website for my addiction.

Thanks everyone.

Oh definitely. If I knew what was good for my wallet I'd probably never go on the computer for nonessential things like communication, porn, job hunting & youtube, but all know that's not possible... so I think I'll just roll with it. Actually, this site is arguably worse for my wallet than TFW because being more local gives more of a sense of reach & availability, and it doesn't help matters that sales & signtings always get posted.

I still love all of you, though.

Re: How much have our collections grown since joining Cybertron.ca?

My collection was miniscule before I joined this board. With seeing others' collections, reading reviews, and folks bragging about new hauls, this board definitely has become part of my collecting fun. I was not even aware of third party goodies before joining this board. So joining this board turned out to be very costly! If I had to do it all over again... I would have liked to join EARLIER!!

Yeah, I had no idea that 3rd party stuff was anywhere near this established outside of somewhat famous customs that got plugged by websites & dollar store shit that had a fanbase. Guess the more you know, eh?

To be honest I would say probobly 4-5 times since I joined, but had I not joined I don`t think it would have changed any. It did help me `focus`my direction but helping me with knowing what is coming up for release.

Re: How much have our collections grown since joining Cybertron.ca?

Considering that before I joined the site, my collection was limited to one figure. As of this post, my collection is now over 200 figures, so that is an increase of lets see.....200 x 100%(the percentage of the one figure I started with) = 20,000% or 200 fold.

Yeah, it's time to slim down the number of figures to something more manageable.

Or just get more shelves, etc. There's always more than one way to balance out conflicting loads.

Re: How much have our collections grown since joining Cybertron.ca?

Aside from what is left of my original G1 collection, which was only resurrected a year and a half ago, I think I only had one or two new figures in my collection when I first joined. Now I have at least a couple hundred ! I'm very happy to have found this site, and the many helpful others out there who have helped my collection grow ! This place is AWESOME
