true classics soundwave

by "true" i mean no mp3,no titanium diaperwave,no giant stealthbomber on stilts, etc.
i followed the same route as i took with classics blaster, only this time way more styrene.
used for this is=
classics 2pac deluxe prime.
weapons and head from a wfc soundwave.
k/o g1 megatron gun with the handle shaved down to fit the standard 3/16" fist holes.
styrene, drawn on with a panel liner pen, then cut with either a big olfa blade or side cutters, then sanded smooth.

i tried to take a few decent pics of the actual work in progress stages to show exactly how this was done step by step.these will be in post 2.

pics....

comparison shots with blaster

and with 2pac prime

Re: true classics soundwave

start off by dissassembling wfc soundwaves upper torso to gain a head.
on the under side of it,cut out a slot from the mid point on the bottom to the back of his head.when you remove the screw that holds 2pac primes head, you're left with a neck post.
this post is the thickness of the slot you want to cut.if done right,it fits damn near perfectly.

this is what the now headless 2pac primes body looks like.

using a set of jewellers side cutters, big olfa blade, etc, this is how much plastic you end up removing and what he looks like when you strip him down.

after running the truck front end on a industrial belt sander, his upper front chest was now a squared structure, ready for styrene.

because of the weight that's added with the styrene and putty work up top,i added more weight to his legs by filling them with screws, setting them in place with super glue, then coating them in hot glue.now it's like picking up a mini version of mp prime with the diecast legs.

Re: true classics soundwave

this is basically all you need to brig him to the next step before paint.

nothing really left to explain, just draw, cut, sand, fit, glue, sand, repeat.
no measuring tape or ruler used, all eye balled and hand cut.

Re: true classics soundwave

I know it was the intended outcome, but that's a little painful to see.

1. I use tapes.

2. They still make mini-cassettes.

3. All the classic Autobot bodies are cars from the 70s and 80s. No one seems to complain about those.

4. Fans want it.
