Well that 2015 reissue was for for Hasbro Asia (middle man #1) and sold by importers like BBTS (Middelman #2).

Takara's recent MP-10 reissue back in April was the same price as the original release. If you had pre-ordered from one the Japanese etailers, it would be 20-30% off Takara's MSRP.

The 2017 reissue was $140US @ AE

That comes to CDN $200-$210 shipped...

The difference though is that this is a (big box) retail release. (I know store exclusive). So it should be priced more in line with that sort of market in mind. The closest example would be the last time TRU sold this mold in North America.

There is no accounting for such a drastic price increase in so few years outside of greed. The production costs can't have gone up very much at all since the mold already exists, and has been used so many times that it surely must be paid for long ago. Materials can't have gone up that much, especially since oil is so low (lower & for longer than the last time this mold was released here). The only remaining wildcard is fees, from Takara to Hasbro, then Hasbro to TRU.

Obviously I don't know where the cost/profit line is, but my belief is that the price increase is more about profit than it is about increased costs.

Yup

I've been wanting MP-10B ever since it was originally released and stupidly waited to try and land a cheap one on eBay listings at the time.

The current price on AE is significantly cheaper then any current eBay listing or the cost of it at various toy collector stores I've seen it in over the years.

I've also pre-ordered MP10B because I wanted an official Nemesis Prime for some time.

I figure I can use the clear trailer from YOTH Optimus and try to paint it up/mod the faction symbol if I really felt it needed a trailer.

Yeah, nah. $230 before taxes is craaaaazy, especially considering how old the mold is now. I already have the improved KO, and the YotH I got on clearance in the states back when the dollar was actually decent.

Takara will probably pump out a new updated version in the next couple years anyway, as MP-10 doesn't really fit in with the new MP style anymore.
