Re: TRU Canada: Spun-off, sold, or transferred?
We (cybertron.ca) should do a group buy of TRU. Turn it into a co-op lol

I would be very happy if TRU Canada survived

I can easily see how it can shut down since its not independent of the US. If US lenders want thir money, the TRU operations in the US could force its subsdiary to give them all they have to repay the debt, inlcuding selling off the leases/buildings and all inventory.
They might be busy, but if the US is desperate, they could find a way to sqweeze everything they can from TRU Canada (they've already been taking Canada's surplus cash).

But it wont be the same prices as before, as the article states because without purchasing at the scale of toysrus, you would get lower margins:

“Things would change without the U.S. business to support the Canadian unit, anything from marketing costs to merchandising costs,” without the economies of scale of a large bulk-buying parent Minakakis said.

So you would get to keep toysrus but have toys at the same prices as specialty retailers (like any online sponsor of this site)

I'd rather pay more to support a REAL toy store than support Walmart. I already 99% buy all my toys at TRU. Anytime Walmart has something first, I kept the receipt and returned it when Tru got it. I despise Walmart THAT much.

Re: TRU Canada: Spun-off, sold, or transferred?
I just herd that a US based toy company MGA Entertainment had made or is about to make a bid to purchase TRU Canada. Here’s a link. I’m hoping something happens to keep TRU Canada alive.

Re: TRU Canada: Spun-off, sold, or transferred?
I wonder if they'll try to combine 10% off + $20 off + BOGO coupons to buy TRU...

Curious to see what happens with the MP line. Available everywhere or does someone else try to sign an exclusivity deal?
