Re: $70 G1 Optimus

I just saw 1 today, and that price makes sense.
...when compared to HotRod's price of 39.99, and Prime weighed like double.

However, the box sizes are identicle, so it at least looks like it's disproportionately inflated.

At the size of the figure, it is most definitely not worth the $70 price tag (in vehicle mode, he's no bigger than a current deluxe class figure).

So assuming that is the US price in 1985, it converts to $56 in 2018. Then add in currency exchange and you have roughly $75 in 2018 Canadian dollars. If it was a straight line from 1985 to today.

So without a trailer for $70 is a bit too high based on the math, and in my opinion.

I think that was high for that time. Prime was $20 from other places like Woodward's. I know this because I had saved up $20 to get him as a kid and they ran out. I got two autobot cars instead. They were $10 each.

I don't think anybody's saying he's worth $70.
I'm only saying that HotRod is equally not worth $40.

Re: $70 G1 Optimus

Maybe we will be able to buy it half off just like Hot rod. I am not in a rush to buy it anyway.

Maybe your right! Like what I found at Davis Walmart in Newmarket this evening. Hot Rod was on Clearance and sold for a "NICE PRICE" from $39.97 to now $29!!
