Re: Adult Lego Fans
Man, if that first set was real I can only imagine how expensive it would be. Considering the actual set is small by comparison and costs $70!
Well mine came today and it's awesome, but it's missing a piece! The interior Tardis door. But I called the 1 800 number and they're sending it to me.

To be frank, I'm still not 100% sure that my 4 year old didn't abscond with it, but I tore the house apart looking for it, as did my wife later on, and we couldn't find it anywhere.
So the only logical answer is that it was missing.

You'll probably find it after the new one arrives.

It is a large piece and easy to find if lost. Odds are that it never shipped.

Re: Adult Lego Fans
What's this buzz about modern Lego appreciating in value faster than gold since 2000?
It's strange to see how things appreciate on the secondary market, much like our own MPs. Of course, Lego is light years ahead in terms of popularity, but still, we still see the same behaviours: sets come out, perhaps even clearanced at some point, only to have the secondary value skyrocket. Remember what MP10 was going for a mere year after release in NA?...then of course there's a reissue, things chill again...and the cycle continues. Lego apparently doesn't reissue often, so that secondary market is in total control of what the sets are 'worth'.
Interesting, anyway. Does anybody here own the Death Star or Mil. Falcon from early 2000, MISB?...looks like they'll be worth quite a bit for some time to come!

I love lego, but i also think it is also a little odd about the value of the sets. The entire nature of the brick building is that you can build anything, INCLUDING the overvalued sets (although usually some substitution will be needed).
So those collectors are essentially collecting boxes and instructions (and minifigures).
