DinoBots - FOC Snarl (WIP)

** UPDATE PICS 2/13/15

Well the above picture above kind of tells everything.

Fascinated about dinos so much as kid, what could be better other than that! Then they make this show called Transformers and came out with robot dinos that transform… wtf!! Ever since that I have loved them!

I’ve had this mulling around for a while, ever since they were only ever going to release Grimmy, so I bought 5 grimmy’s to do these customs in the future! So what’s that a 1 1/2 years now… wow the future has arrived!

I was even going to go the planet X route, but must save some money. Anyway my hope is to do all the FOC dino’s, which means forcing myself to get some free time at nights, which is not a lot.

I was going to start with Slag (or whatever you want to call him) but when AOE snarl came out It gave me the perfect opportunity to start here! Those weather vane fins were the stumbling block, so now with this mold problem solved!

Using these shots as ref I begin.

So I have some progress I have more done but no pics yet, not much too look at but here you go.

1. Started by gutting the lower head and feet attachments, and installing new lower feet, they will serve as both alt and bot mode feet.

2. And a shot with the lower ½ of the leg attached, this will swivel around and form the leg in bot mot mode

Updated shots below added 1/27/15

Leg finished, well both lower actually

Leg in bot mode

Finished leg assembled and work on head started

Re: DinoBots - FOC Snarl (WIP)

Updated 3/23/15 :

Well done a bit more work don, actually about 16+ hrs ( could easily be more ) work on and off. Was having problems with the neck and head. I was planning on using the original connection but it wouldn’t now work with the new legs!. Arrrg! So I came up with this, could not get the head swivel around the other way, but I think I can live with this? (thoughts anyone…)

So a little miffed everytime I change something, something else doesn’t work. A lot of trial assembly and I’m finding myself thinking thru all the steps for the whole bot now every time I try to do something new.

Ok ok updated shots:

nice idea!!
just be careful as all translucent plastic can be quite brittle (and a total pain) to work with....

Thanks and Yeh, I have bean using a smal metal cutting disc on my dremel, works good tends to melt and cut at the same time. So far no shattered pieces, :knocking on wood:

Man, I hope it works out for you! I was miffed that they never did the FOC Dinobot figures until I got my hands on their lazy attempt at Grimlock. The whole line would have stunk like the movie figures.

Purely supportive. I know it can be quite the task and painting clear plastics is never easy.

Looking forward to the results!

Thanks by the way, when I'm finished there might not be much translucent plastic left, except for the fins, and I have already done a test paint spot with some clear red, seem to be holding for now

I would have taken it either way ( the comment that is ) I have a sarcastic sense of humor, so either way fine I actually got a laugh out of it cause I thought it was!
