Devastator Artwork

So yeah... I often sketch transformers for fun... and squareofme on livejournal requested devastator. So, i had fun with it.

IT's a pretty stiff (see non-devastatorly) pose... but i only have a normal size sketchbook to draw in.

Stay tuned for the coloured!

(edit) here is the changed version... to fix the flat looking bulldozer

Re: Devastator Artwork

I like it, it's very nice. Much better than I could do since I never could get the hang of drawing robots.

Re: Devastator Artwork

Wow, I really like the looks of the original sketch, but the inked version looks sweet too! I like that you used the look of the custom devastator.

One small critique? The bulldozer looks two dimensional, it nees some thickness to it like the rest of the drawing has. You notice it more in the inked version where the front dirt moving part is also flat and you lose the shaded shadow from the sketch.

Re: Devastator Artwork

stapler - Thanks man! Anyone can learn to draw... if you can hand write your name you have the dexterity enough to draw. All it takes is time and knowing the base stuff... i recomend the book "Drawing Comics the Marvel Way" It really helped me.

Bruticus82 - Gosh now that i look at it that bulldozer is very flat! Gotta fix that before i colour it. Thanks for pointing that out!

Re: Devastator Artwork

thanks man! and thanks again for the crit. Sometimes you get so into something you don't even really see it anymore.

Oh and by the way...

Yes i did base alot of the hips/waist on frenzy rumbles figure... but i also referenced several other versions of devastator too (basically just google image search) I used the toy head, the toy gun and the toy for the front end loader as basis for those parts.
