But they're intertwined. The toyline provided the impetus for the show, but the show influenced the toyline and also brought it attention.

I, like many others, saw the initial Beast Wars figures and scoffed. It wasn't so much Trukk not munky as it was that the figures sucked. It just added insult to injury that the simplistic, tiny, bat thing was supposed to be Prime. How many people saw those initial toys and were ready to write off Beast Wars completely forever?

And then the show. Again, like many others, I didn't make a concerted effort to find and watch the show. It found me. And after I picked up my jaw from the floor, I realized a few things. The first was that the show was good. The second is that it was somewhat of a dream come true -- watching CGI Transformers with (more or less) accurate transformations.

Watching the show invested me in the characters, but also provided me with insight into their transformations. Not all of them were simplistic or stupid. Some of them were intriguing. And it made me take a second look at the toys.

It's that back-and-forth reinforcement between the quality of the toys and the show that makes Beast Wars special. The only thing that's come close since has been Animated (we'll see about Prime).

Re: Beast Wars 15th Anniversary

I picked up Generations Cheetor recently, and hes so awesome. Now Im trying to get my hands on a Genrations Dinobot. That being said, I wish Hasbro would do update some of the BW toys the way they did those two. Primal and Megs are fine, but a show accurate Rhinox, Blackarachnia, Terrorsaur, Tigratron and Wapinator would be so great.

Re: Beast Wars 15th Anniversary

Beast Wars was pretty much my elementary school life. I didn't even know what transformers were at the time. In classes we use to speculate whether Cybershark and Puppytron were going to be shown in the series .

Thinking about Beast Wars turning 15 years old makes me feel a bit old but I am happy to see that people still remember Beast Wars after all these years!

Happy Belated Birthday Beast Wars!

Re: Beast Wars 15th Anniversary

Hey, I have a request. Can someone post a pic of Animated BlackArachnia with the Orignal BWs cast preferable Silverbolt. I wanna see how she fits both design and size wise. Id like to add a Blaclarachnia to my BW collection, but Im not a fan of her original mold.

It was certainly what got me into Transformers collecting in the first place.
Really love characters like Dinobot, Rattrap and Depth Charge still now.

Plain and simple - Loved this show! Can't wait to get my Complete Series from Amazon!

Was the first, and probably last, Saturday morning cartoon I'd puposely get up early to watch. When Beast Wars ended, it really was the end of an era for me.

And God, the Beast Machines follow-up was just terrible!

Re: Beast Wars 15th Anniversary

So, what are your guys opinions on the Japanese BW shows? The toys are amazing, but the few episodes Ive seen of both shows left something to be desired.

Also, I didnt read IDW's second BW book or the Omnibus, but were they able to consolidate both canons/universes into one cohesive timeline?
