I'm with you when he showed us how different it was next to the unmodded Herc set it really blew me away amazing set really good design and to put it simply really works wonders on an already amazing figure. and as echo said really nice quality and for sure really really well thought out kit.

Re: Echotransformers Hercules Upgrade Kit

^^ Thanks John. Thanks also for the Ottawa crew shout out! That was a great meetup so I glad I could show the upgrade kit in person.

I got the latest kit last night, and the quality was better than the first--I'm going to contact Shapeways to figure out why. There was virtually no powder on the parts and everything was super-crisp. I experimented with adding RIT dye to the parts and the results were, um, interesting...I tired grey, black and purple. The grey sucked--it turned out purple-brown-ish, but the purple looks great (doesn't match tho) and the black is great. The dye looks excellent and doesn't chip or affect fit...highly recommended for the elbows, for example.

I'll post more on TFW.

Regarding stability--I've been trying to figure out why it's more stable and I finally had a eureka moment last night...without the thigh extensions, he's kinda tippy and his legs do the splits, but when the extensions are installed he's more stable...why? My theory is that thanks to the extra length in his legs, his ankles can now be positioned closer together and there's less force splaying his legs outward.

Taking the crane off his shoulder and putting it along his back also seems to help...

i wonder if it would be possilbe to use some kind of rit dye in the boiling pot to actually dye the add on sets leg parts a sort of composite silvery greyish white color.

Re: Echotransformers Hercules Upgrade Kit

would it be possible to design a set of alternate lower arms for tfc hercules that could double as a set of tank treaded drill machines?

i was thinking maybe it would be possible to design a hybrid set of alternate lower arms modeled after the lower arms from maketoys giant and the rage of hercules add on set

the basic idea being that design wise the hercules hands could be unplugged from the lower arms and the wrists could double as fold out drills with the tfc hercules hands storing away inside of the hollowed out lower arms while the drills are being used in their place

If you can use them with Paypal, then yes, 'cause Shapeways takes Paypal. Not sure about direct tho, you'd need to ask them.

Funny you should mention RIT dye, I tried their 'pearl grey' dye...didn't quite work as expected...have a look here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radico...elbows-17.html
