Re: Storing TF with batteries

I don't know what to do about MISB. I however got an Optimal Optimus off ebay a few months ago and the batteries had exploded all inside the battery compartment. Luckily I managed to clean it all out.

Re: Storing TF with batteries

Most MISB toys have the plastic tab in between. A battery won't bust or break and leak it's damaging acid if their is no connection for it to have a residial charge. But yeah, for anything opened, after awhile, take them out. While it's not 100% TF related. My Gobots Zod got MESSED UP BAD, cause the batteries were in for over 9 years.

Re: Storing TF with batteries

I make it a general rule to remove batteries immediately when I open a figure up. I don't even bother trying out the light and sound features.

This is mainly because I'm not interested in the light and sound features, but also because if I don't, I'll forget to remove the batteries later. I've seen what batteries can do, and I'd rather not clean up that mess.

I started removing them after an event in the middle of the night where some figures fell and started flashing lights and blaring sounds. Scared the crap out of me at like 3 in the morning.

The only time (in recent history) that I've actually tried the light and sound features was for Animated Leader Megatron. The laugh actually had me in tears on the floor laughing so hard. I promptly removed them after I calmed down.

Anyways, I can't answer how long it takes for batteries to go bad, but as a general rule I'd rather not find out.
