Same thing happened to me with a MOTU Origins Castle Grayskull. After 4 months of not getting anything (had it shipped to store right during the lockdown d'oh). Anyway I actually saw it on the shelf when I went to the store after it opened up again. Basically they couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting it. So I was told they would flag it and send it up the chain.
Smart me this time just bought it off the shelf. Got a call a couple days later and was told they would just refund me the money.
So yeah it doesn't surprise me in the least. Once they miss a delivery by more than a month you are looking at a strong possibility of refund.
