Yes, the original mold released by Hasbro was the Combaticons/Bruticus (in um, much brighter colors) and they featured a 'scramble city' style limb design, where you could mix/match arms/legs. It was interesting because there was basically no parts forming, but the result didn't really look that great.
So after a few recolors (SDCC--which is the one I took a picture of--G2, Takara metallic, and a platinum set) they released the Ruination set (which Wervenom nicely photographed) with a very slight remold of heads/etc. along with 'mech tech' style weapons to represent the Wreckers (Impactor, Whirl, Twin-twist, Top Spin and Roadbuster. AFAIK, these repaints/remolds never released in Canada, which IMHO was a shame because they were pretty cool.
