Re: Adult Lego Fans

I definitely will get the GB Ecto, but I liked the original creation better, Lego has made it a little less "smooth". The front end is no longer fluid, rather block-ish.

Thanks! I have a couple other ones I'm working on.

I'm surprised no one bothers putting pics of their stuff in this thread? I'd love to see some in hand Simpsons.

Re: Adult Lego Fans

The LEGO Movie has sold me on getting some sets again but MAN are the sets pricy, I don't know how lego collectors do it.

I want Bernnie's SPACESHIP but I saw the price tag and knew that wasn't gonna happen.

Likewise, I saw that the double-dekcer couch was gonna be in Meatlbeard's pirate set…but then I hear it's gonna be 250 smackers and went NOPE!

Guess this means I'll be trying my luck at blind bags then…

I recall seeing a spaceship set at Wal Mart that looked like the spaceship Bernnie was trying to build. I don't remember the price, but that might be the one I get since I grew up with the Space stuff.

Re: Adult Lego Fans

The Lego Movie stuff is actually cheaper than all the other "Licensed" product if you look at the pieces you get... but, yeah, Lego in general ain't cheap.

The Minifigs end up costing you about $60 if you get all 16 so that will get you a couple low-end sets or a nice mid-range set. The set I want most is Emmet's Mech... but I'll settle for the Super Cycle Chase until the Mech releases.

I was really hoping they'd put out a clear double-decker couch as a polybag. That would be awesome!

Re: Adult Lego Fans

Sure but the sea cow is also nearly 3000 pieces. Every theme seems to have one $200+ serious collector set these days. I have the tower of orthanc and haunted house and diagonal alley premium sets.

As far as cost - there are always sales. Wait. TRU will do 20% off sales on every theme multiple times as the year goes on. They sometimes mark sets up from msrp so be careful. Better, amazon.ca now stocks lego. Brickset.com has an amazon discount watch page. http://brickset.com/buy/vendor-amazo...unt/country-ca

They do some deep discounts. Just have to be quick about it but lots of regular decent sales. Chapters/indigo has a decent lego selection and will do good sales periodically too.

I only really buy lego full price on the months the lego store/site has some really good freebie. Next month is a martian manhunter minifig on purchases over $75. Or little things like holiday sets. Otherwise I wait for the twice a year 'double VIP points' specials at lego to make it more worthwhile. Then use my points to get a solid discount on a large exclusive set.

Those are my lego savings tips. I buy a lot and very little is full price. I was able to get all four Jabba sets from the past year for around $250-75. Normal retail for jabbas palace, sailbarge, skiff and rancor pit is $405 before tax!

We don't get the sales or msrp Americans do on lego but don't pay full price. ^^
