KO MP-01

Ouch.

Isn't harder to retro-engineer an existing toy than creating a brand new one? Unless they stole the molds?

Re: KO MP-01

The box is almost identical to the original concering the shape and desing (except art). They did KO for the toy and for the box. Lack of inspiration. A way to make easy money by saving on design and conception. In another point of view, a KO is a cheaper base for kitbashing.

From what I've seen (4-5 years past mind you) is that the Chinese KO makers have modern engineering equipment (laser scanners and 3D drafting software from what I saw) to scan the originals and make exact duplicate molds.

Bah... short stacks.

I wouldn't mind picking up two of these for some custom UltraMags and Nemesis Prime though

That is the first thing I noticed too. At least these should make for cheap kitbash fodder.

Re: KO MP-01

Has Hasbro or Takara given much effort into hunting down the KO makers? I'm more or less siding with the KO makers, since they're making good stuff (at least the G1 replicas) by supplying toys that won't or will ever be made by Takara again (due to lost/broken molds).

I really hope the Chinese gov't doesn't bust them though, I can't imagine how severe the punishment will be (Most likely capital punishment).

Damn, Takara should hire these guys, I mean, if a small group can reverse engineer a toy, why can't Takara do it?

Technically, that's a KO DVD Prime.
