Alclad is a lacquer-based paint that is made specifically for model-building, and is only available as a standalone liquid for airbrushing (no spraycans exist, and it isn't suitable for hand-brushing), AND it must be sealed in with a clear-coat.
Everything else, especially spraycans, won't get you a chrome-like look.
Another product that's come up in my searches (that I haven't gotten to try myself) is Kosutte Ginsan. Looks better than Alclad II, actually.

Just watched a video of kosutte Ginsan; that stuff looks incredible. I'm going to look for it now because it seems like something that should be kept around the house at all times.
