He has a cool mold, but I think the Thrust version has a better head sculp. If the "monkey head" of Breakaway doesn't appeal to you, check out Thrust.

And you'd be wrong but what's your point? He asked if we did it and you said we all did, I simply pointed out to you that you were wrong because as you can see many of us do not.

I got Animated Arcee because of what everyone was saying about her.
I also bought Drift, but for reasons that were my own. I liked the figure's look from the get-go.

Re: Do you ever buy a figure only because everyone wants it?
Sometimes....
I bought the TRU MP Grimlock even though I had the Japanese version. It just had hype and everyone wanted one so when I saw it I had to get one. I liked the Japanese one well enough, but not well enough to buy one with a crown instead of a brain transfer kit.
I wanted Animated Hot Rod, but not so much Ironhide, but I got both...
Back in the Armada/Energon/Cybertron days I bought a lot of figures I didn't necessarily want, but they were new on the shelves and hard to find and other people said such good things about them. A good example is Energon Demolisher. Everyone loved that guy, so I saw him one day and got him. I thought maybe he'd grow on me, he never did. There are lots of figures where this happened in Energon and Cybertron along these lines for me. Like Energon Landmine (and his repaint!).
Sometimes things work out well, though. I bought Animated Grimlock and Lugnut the same day. I wanted Grimlock, I wasn't sure about Lugnut, but they were both out new and there was some hype. In the end I dislike the Grimlock and I love Lugnut. So sometimes it's good to go with hype, you end up with a figure you like. Most times, it's not.

I did with Generations Thrust. I thought that I was gonna leave it MISB and let the value build up but that lasted a whole week :P

Yeah, Man. If you can find the old thread when the time Hasbro MP Grimlock is going to be released, you will be amazed how many pages of replies are followed.
For the Japanese Crown one, I just don't find the money to buy a single figure for the price. I guest "too expensive" is also an issue which is bigger than the hyp for me.

Re: Do you ever buy a figure only because everyone wants it?
The Animated line.
I had NO desire whatsoever to go anywhere near those toys, but all the hype of how supposedly amazing they were finally got to me, so I grabbed a couple of figures near the end of Wave 1. And I'm the glad I did. All the hype was definitely warranted, and Animated quickly became my favorite line outside of my standard fare of G1 inspired lines ala Classics, Masterpieces, Alts, etc.
