Re: ShelfLife Beta Test Announcement: Very Exciting Stuff
I'm just going to start a thread on TFW basically advertising for ShelfLife. Worst thing the mods can do is tell me to stop, but it would be hard for them to justify their request since I don't believe I would be breaking any site rules.
As a matter of fact I'm going to start that now. I'll post a link so you all can see what the overall feedback is from that community before the mods shut it down.

We'll do our very best to earn the dedication Chovner!
We're in this for the long haul and success will be measured 1st by our ability to provide an awesome site that is responsive to the needs of you, the fans, because we are massive fans ourselves and this has been a long dream coming.
I look forward to letting some of our stateside brothers in on the action.
p.s. We've already noticed a spike in traffic and users since the site went live this week, so keep those shoutouts coming, they definitely help!
James

Great work, wervenom. Could you choose a featured product for each catalog, please?
The "Submit for approval" link will appear when the catalog's considered complete. If a catalog's not complete, it says why it's not complete at the top of the page.

Isn't it already bad enough that it's being advertised worse than spam on here? A number of us agree that it's getting to the point where it's becoming obnoxiously annoying, and limiting our browsing of certain sections of THIS forum.

Hmm, disagree. Aside from this thread, which of course is just for Shelflife, I have not noticed any "spamming" across the site. The occasional tidbit pops up in other threads, but no where near what would be considered spamming.

The way I see it, it's three or four threads here (one of which is a customs contest, one of which is inviting people to contribute to a travelling exhibit at he-con), and one ad to our right. I'm sure they pay for the ad space, probably double what the other sponsors are paying based on the size of their logo. That sponsorship helps this site pay the bills, and keep more general ads off our site.
And the threads they have created, like this one, are extending a benefit to us (early membership and curation abilities) and the ability to win prizes (customs contest, and their beta test contests).
So I'll glad to see the level of exposure shelflife is getting here, it helps keep the lights on so to speak, and I don't find it being advertised "worse than spam".
