Re: Hasbro scared of chrome parts???
Actually what I think he means is that Chrome parts on plastic toys don't wear well. Transmetal flaking is what they call it I believe, and I can tell you for a fact, My BM Jetstorm has NOT been played with, and is suffering from transmetal flaking. Totally unacceptable. So, For my part, I'll take the toys without the chrome.
I'm not saying that I don't always like the chrome. sometimes it looks awesome. My Henkai Astrotrain blows the Hasbro one out of the water, but for several other reasons as well. Now the paint schemes on the other hand, Henkai is far far superior. If you put my starscreams and astrtrotrains side by side, there no comparison, Henkai wins. Would I pay a little extra money for better paint jobs? My opinion: I shouldn't have to, but obviously, I already did. But if deluxes are gonna start costing more, it's gonna hamper my collection, and I don't like that idea. The idea of "premium line" toys for the more distinguished collectors isn't bad though, I just wish they would have released them at the same time as the normal ones, so you could choose how much you wanted to spend.
But I'm still not totally sold on just the chrome. I tend to think I'd rather not see it, for fear of future flakage.
